great resources, great layout! very creative site design, I like it! I've seen lots of people try to follow through with the Finder site layout, but these guys have done a really good job.

Be sure to check the "Links" section (icon on the right, on the "desktop") - it points to other good abandonware sites, some with both Mac and Apple II (and console) games.

I spent about 4 hours moving many a game from my dual G4 800 to my Mac Plus via AppleTalk over Ethernet. Lots of fun to be had on the Plus thanks to this site!

how well will those games run on os x? i ask because awhile ago i downloaded a game from that site, i think i was Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and when i launched it my imac (it was running 9.1) crashed and then on reboot couldn't find the startup disk and i had to do a reinstall. so what i'm trying to ask is will i be ok running it in 10.3 ? i really want to play spectre.

All the Mac OS (not X) games should run in classic. Heck, I play Armor Alley on a regular basis in Classic, and that came out in 1989.

I don't think any of these games will run under OS X natively (as a Carbon app), but a good number will run under OS X's Classic system. More would run under a direct OS 9 boot if your machine supports that. But many will not run under OS 9 at all. Many want you to run in 16-color mode, which is not possible under OS 9. Some were designed with only the 512x384, black&white original Macs in mind.

To run those games that do not run under OS 9, you will need to set yourself up with vMac - that will solve your problems. vMac is an old-Mac emulator that runs on modern Macs.

Yes, fiddling with old apps, games, and hardware can be quite a pleasant way to spend time. I've found that I only can really enjoy old platforms that I have used before - whenever I try to get an old system going that I never used (8-bit Atari's or 8-bit Commodore's for instance), it just doesn't "click" for me. But as far as Macs and Apple II's - it's all good.

Recently got a TI-99/4A system up and going and now have almost every cartridge game for it, on floppy. (It was my first machine.)

I think it is now time for me to dig out my Mac Classic.

Oregon Trail was a great game... never could get my wagon across the river though. I really think I will have more fun woth these games than any new ones out today (aka I have a horrible graphics card and I can't play any new ones). Anyone get SimTower yet?

Get out of my head. When I saw Life and Death I was ecstatic.. but of course it doesn't work in Classic, and my older macs are in storage. I will have to see if I can get one up and running just to play that game. I had it on the PC when it was new, and thought it was quite cool.

I played a game of Oregon Trail with my son when he got home from school today, and he thought it was pretty neat. Hard to impress a 10 year old who grew up on Nintendos, I guess, but he was polite enough to act interested.

I will be playing Civilization for days on end.

When I was in grade 5 and 6 (3-4 years ago) I brought in a copy of Spectre on a disk and put it into the super old macs and somehow it got all over the network and people just loved it so much. I remember coming to school with 5 floppies of games to play when I was done my work. Ah, such fun!

I am confused. I got Transmac to work, but when I got some games from a differnt site, It said that it couldn't find where they came from

I think I have the original installer for SimTower around here somewhere (it's on a 3.5 floppy); wow, though -- blast from the past... I had forgotten about such cool games as Spectre and Armor Alley, for example -- off to look for A-Train! (Been looking for that for ages!)

I've been wanting to move a few of my older games onto that site, but I only have a PB G4! It obviously can't read 400k disks (or 800k for that matter).

I have Seven Cities of Gold, MicroLeague Baseball 2, Patton vs. Rommel, OrbQuest, and a few others to upload.

Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone know of an old Mac in the Dallas area I could go use?

Are there any that anyone can recommend as being particularly mac-specific that I should check out? I know most of these from my Amiga days, but I'm sure there are some that would be new to me.

I saw they have Moria...ah, Moria. I wonder if Omega exists on the Mac? Or if I have enough patience left to play Ultima IV again.
