how does one capture VHS analog tape into Final Cut Pro or iMovie / I can see it on my eMac screen but don't know how to capture it (if it can be captured) / I am hooked: 1) RCA AV out on VCR into single plug on camcorder / 2) firewire from camcorder into eMac

what's playing on VCR (VHS tape) I can see both on my cam's LCD & on the eMac screen / but so far unable to capture what I see into FCP or iMovie

obviously I'm a novice (a kinder word than "dummy") 😛

in version 1 and 2 of fcp you go to preferences and turn off... sorry can't remember, i use fcp at school and can't see it right now... you're suppose to turn off the thing that lets you control the camera from your computer. and in version 3 and 4 you have to go to audio/video not preferences. and in imovie i don't know.
sorry i can't tell you exactly what it is. good luck.
