Ähem, this is about browser-based/server-side Ruby applications - not about stuff that is directly uploaded to the iPhone (as a replacement for Objective-C-based apps). So it's not really a big deal.
So far, it seems that only Unity 3D (e.g. with Mono C#) can be used as an alternative to Objective-C, at least for iPhone games.
