My microphone doesn't work with my G5

sorry to bother you all...but i like playing games on my new G5. and i like to voice chat with everyone, but i cant..the mic jack won't work...(it might be non-powered) if that is true do you guys have any answers for me? like maybe a usb mic?

Check the sound preferences under system prefs, it could be set on internal mic only, you can set it to use an external mic try that.
 
i figured that....but that option (external mic) is not available. i have Panther, Has it been known to work on the G5? i have tried several cheap mics. maybe that is the reason...
 
i have also been trying several mics recently on my 1.6 g5

with no luck aswell.

i think its only an input. not a mic input

is there any solution for using a regular mic on the g5
 
i know there is a usb mike...but i am afraid to shell out that kind of money..cause i am not sure if THAT will work...

The sound input on the G5 is line level sound in. The standard mic uses mic Level Sound In, which most PCs have, but the G5 lacks. A USB Microphone should work great.
