iPod touch Theatherd Jailbreak For 2g. Whats The Deal?

Just wanted to know what excatly what this is. And what are the Pros and Cons?

Well before today the 2G iPod touch didn't have public jailbreaking software, now it does.
Tethered means that in order to turn it on it has to be connected to the computer or it won't boot up, which is why I'm waiting for an untethered version.
