This sounds harder then it looks. I have had problems with the SETI screen-saver crashing, whenever I click the computer and it comes up from black screen mode it says SETI @ Home has unexpectedly quit, this only happens with the screen saver, it never happens when I leave the program open. I want to delete the SETI @ home app but its owned by root(OS X) how do I nuke this?? I think if I get rid of this it will stop crashing.

Well preferable...

System Preferences... and just change the screen saver to something else...

then restart and delete the files if you want...

If not there is always programs like delete it ...

Go for it.
