External DVD Writer for Macbook

I have a white 13" Macbook but find DVD so slow with Toast 9 to encode and then burn.

I was wondering if a external DVD writer would be a quicker option for me.

Couldn't seem to find many that say Mac Compatible.

I would appreciate any recommendations for an external drive or a solution to speed up the process.

I have 2gb ram in the macbook too.
