Applescript Set Text of Label

I am trying to make a counter, and I am trying to do something like this:

on clicked theObject
delay 1
set contents of label "count" of window "step1" to "1" as text
delay 1
set contents of label "count" of window "step1" to "2" as text
delay 1
set contents of label "count" of window "step1" to "3" as text
end clicked

But it errors out.

Any ideas?
