Its a problem with the 10.5.6 on your macbook. Get a powered USB hub and hook your phone through there. It"ll work fine after that.

is this problem only with the new macbooks? I'm having this same problem but its on an older macbook.

No, it's a 10.5.6 problem. if your Mac is up to date software-wise, this could be your issue.

It should work fine on your iMac. It always does on mine. The usb hub or file replacement methods should also work.

I had the same exact problem on my iMac. The USB hub workaround did the trick.
