Is there an app that makes texts appear from another number?

Title says it all.
Got a mate "sending" abusive texts to another person. But the problem is that he is not sending them.
I read of a jb app that changes the phone number, could this be done for texts?

that would be more realistic thatn just some random with an iphone.
