I am looking at buying a Ibook g3 for surfing the web, listening to music...
The specs are 30gb harddrive, 800mhz g3, air port wifi , 128mb of ram, good battery and mint condition screen.

If i do buy the computer i would upgrade the ram to the max. What is the highest version of Mac os x that it will run? It is currently running 10.3.

So what is the max you would pay?

10.4 “Tiger” requirements:
• PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor
• Built-in FireWire
• At least 256 MB of RAM (512 MB or 1 GB recommended)
• At least 3 GB of available hard disk space
• DVD drive

Probably about $75. Depends on 12" or 14". You'd have to put more RAM in that asap.

I'd pay more for the 12" version than I would the 14". Saying that, the laptop is probably from 2002, so I wouldn't pay much. It's not even Altivec enabled!!! I don't even know what that means in terms of running semi-modern software. Perhaps it means nothing nowadays. Anyway, I'd pay $50, and spend money to max out the RAM (640 MB??), and buy a battery it's still possible.
