I bought the Studio MovieBox DV Version 9 Video Editor and it is great! Setup takes about 5 minutes and you can edit for free in imovie or final cut pro. hope this helps. oh and its only 249.99. I f i could have found anything better I would have because i did not take price into consideration either, i wanted top quality.

you could use a DV camera with video in. Easier / cheaper to borrow / rent than a buying DV bridge if you only need it for a few tapes.
