Getting events for Individual Views

Hello,
In the MainWindow.xib i add a UITabBar at the bottom of the screen and UITabBarItems in UITabBar.

Then i have my own CustomComponent which inherits UIView...

In xcode i add CustomComponent to window
[window addSubview:self.customcomponent];

Now how do i do Touch events for UITabBar....it doesn't responds to Touch events as in the case as above...

What am i missing?

Thanks
amal
