I just recently bought a new macbook pro, but i chose to NOT register it when I set it up (just didnt feel like adding all the info).

today, i checked the serial number on apple's website and it says i'm covered until March 14, 2010!

How is that possible when the warranty is only for one year? Thats over a year.

Anyone understand that?

No. At least, i didnt think so.

If the MBP is only 2 months old then it still wouldnt make sense would it? since applecare only extends by full years?

If you're sure you got the serial number correct, call Apple and find out.

Does the original 1-year warranty possibly cover a couple extra weeks (2-3 extra weeks)??

Did you call Apple? You won't find your answer here. Call them if you really want to know.

anyone get it?

Sometime when you buy a computer it doesn't get registered in the system as sold to you, so essentially the computer isn't yours. I would call Apple and ask them for assistance.
