iPhoto grayed out when using Quark 8

Using new (to me) iMac, using OS 10.5.6. and Quark 8

When I open a Quark document that was created on old G4 (using Quark 4.11/OS 10.3.9) I get the following message:

"Some disk files for pictures in this layout are missing or have been modified."

I click list pictures button. Print box is checked, ...status is missing

More information says "This picture has been moved or the name has been changed since it was imported."

When I go to Pictures & click on it, iPhoto is grayed out.

What do I need to do for these picts to be recognized and brought into these old documents?

So if the document was created on another machine where are the image files? Use Spotlight to find them. Quark usually looks in the folder where the document is for an images folder.

To correctly archive a Quark project, you need to collect images, fonts and profiles using the collect for output feature. This has nothing to do with iPhoto or even the Pictures folder.

Originally used collect for output using the migration assistant.

The image files are there when I open iPhoto from my dock, and the pictures are in the document and can be printed out, however when I attempt to update the pict, I can't access it through the normal channel because iPhoto is grayed out.

All of the documents I created using Quark 4.11 have to be modified somewhat using Quark 8, so that is what I have been doing.

uhmmm iphoto is an app, not a directory. if i'm getting what you are saying right. You need to go to Pictures > iPhoto Library > YourDirectories

or, OS X has a searchbar at the top of it's "browse" windows, so you can just search for the file name and it will come up. iPhoto probably moved them to a new directory at some point.

iPhoto is in users / pictures / iPhoto Library...just where it was on my G4....but it's inaccessible.

There's got to be something I can do so that my picts can be updated...hope so anyway
