I Can't seem to figure out how to get my Mac se and power mac G5 set up for file shareing.

this is how I currently have it set up:

Mac se Os 7 to Asantetalk to ethernet port 1 on G5 OSX

under the network control panel on the G5 the network status menu shows that their is a connect but the little light next to it is yellow and it shows this message

Built in ethernet 1 is currently active. Built-in Ethernet 1 has a self- assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet.

what do i need to do to enable file shareing between the two computers???

Please help
🙂

You'd need a crossover cable if you were going to connect it directly to the G5. That's the Ethernet equivalent of a null-modem cable: the transmit and receive lines are swapped. If you plugged he Asantetalk into your hub or switch, you could use a standard Ethernet cable.
