There was a lot of sticker residue on my plastic macbook, so I decided to use some goo be gone. It not only took the goo off, but it started taking the glossy layer off of the plastic. The plastic was literally melting in some places. I haven't used it since september, before my charger broke, and it has been out of warranty for a year and a half. It sucks, but I don't think any internal parts were damaged as a result. Now I'll know not to use this on any future laptops that I decide to put a sticker on :p

Well quite a few plastics are petrochemical-based, so using something that gets rid of them quite well tends to dissolve them.

Usually rubbing alcohol will get that off. It's what we use here in the hospital to get sticker residue off of IV tubes and tracheostomy collars. Maybe give that a try next time. Sometimes it takes a bit of doing, but it works nine times out of ten.

Sorry to hear about your Mac.
