I have a 10.4 operating system right now. How can i upgrade it to 10.5?

Yes you can. The specifications are clearly stated on Apple's site on OS X.

Do u recommend switching despite the huge price? Isn't 10.6 coming out soon?

I believe I've seen it for a little less than this but not in ages.

Microsoft doesn't give out operating system updates for free. Why should Apple? 😀
