Great Sale on 2TB Drive at Best Buy

I thought about what forum to post this in, and almost did so in the Mac Pro section, but I thought this might be best for us in the ever shrinking empty space on drive media group

Best Buy has the WD 2TB Green drive on sale for $237.99 in store through Saturday. This is the first time I've seen this on sale and if you can find them you're usually paying $299.99 for them, so just thought I'd bring it up.

They have the sale online but they are back-ordered, most stores have them in stock though.

With tax in VA where I am it came up to $249.something or other

enjoy!

ya, i'm VERY excited about it! I figure I can last with just one though for the next year or so (i have about 6.5 TB's worth of storage with internal and external drives so that puts me at 8.5 TB's now!!!)

In about a year I'm sure they'll be more at the $200 or less price point

Pick one up people!

A deal? I don't know about that. You can get 1.5 tb for 100.00 online, go to www.techbargains.com , I think its at tigerdirect. 1.5 tb x 2 for the same price.

Are you including tax on your final price too?

On 3 separate occasions I ordered two 1.5tb drives. Never spent more than $106 each. I just google from time to time and find sales. Tiger Direct has the occasional sale. Dealmac works too. All the drives perform flawlessly.

The 1.5 TB drives that echibited severe problems were Seagate. The western digital green power 2 tb drives are totally different. I'm running a few of the 1 TB green power (ead model) and they are quiet, cool, and fantastic. Can't wait to change over the array to the 2TB models.

Best Buy

I will have to stop by BB tomorrow and see if i can find a few of the 2TB drives. They are a pretty good price and would really help out with my storage issues.

Had to grab one of these harddrives while they're on sale.

I could definitely use it, but I am considering returning it or selling it to a friend. Might reconsider if I can find a fanless, single- or dual-bay enclosure with FW for cheap, but I'm having no luck. Suggestions?

OWC makes a few. I have one, fanless with USB, FW800 and eSATA.

I've heard bad things about the OWC ones, or maybe its just the drives they include if you get the all in ones, i've heard about them failing

Has yours been pretty reliable?

BTW everyone, new deal

NewEgg has 1 TB WD Black drives for $99 w/free shipping through today

I've been using the OWC Mercury Elite Quad Interface for over a year straight, without any problems (hourly backups). I'm using it with a 1.0TB WD Enterprise RE2-GP drive, via eSATA, that I purchased separately and installed myself.

On average, it runs about 10-15 degrees hotter than my internal drives and the blue light is annoyingly bright (but can be unplugged internally). Over the past 6 months I've occasionally received Time Machine errors, but they appear to be a known problem with TM. These errors seem to coincide with the drive being full or writing out huge files while a TM backup is taking place.

P.S. Those enclosures are also available in black.

Thanks for the Newegg info. I'm going to snatch up a few of those.

I refuse to give BB any of my money.

I bought a Adcomdata 2 TB hard drive with Firewire 800 for $230 shipped. Inside this unit are two 1 TB Hitachi 3.5" hard drives.

Not...QUITE the same as a single 2TB drive . I don't mind giving Best Buy my money since they're likely selling these drives at a loss. I need the max capacity inside my Mac Pro, hence why 1TB don't do me much good when I can put 8TB inside of that beast.
