I don't think the unibody MacBooks Pro have number pads. Older models do, though.

Press fn+F6 and you'll see a little green light appear under the f6 key. Then the keypad buttons will be in operation.

Not available on the early 2008 MBP either.
You have to use the top row number keys or buy a USB number pad. F6 is one of the keyboard backlight keys. Even the old PPC iBook had number pad keys and a number lock option to use them. ![]() S.
