Charter wireless router - how do I get into the settings?

I'm trying to enter a Charter wireless router to set up security - the cable guy set it up with no security whatsoever.

I have no documentation or anything for it. It only has Charter on it (and made in China 😉) but no manufacturer.

So I'm wondering if anyone here who has Charter and their wireless router could tell me what the IP address of the router settings is.

This is a roundabout way of doing it, but it works:

Open up Network Utility, and under Info select your network connection.

Open the Traceroute tab and enter a web domain (macrumors.com, for example).

Traceroute will count the "hops" to the destination, but the first hop (#1) will be the IP of your router.

I wish they have a Mac to do this on, but they don't. Is there a way to do the same thing on Windows?

EDIT: Found it. It's tracert. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! This is going to be MIGHTY useful when troubleshooting routers!

From Windows, it might even be easier to open a command line and enter ipconfig. It will tell you the IP of the default gateway, typically the router.
