I need some help on getting a DVD burner. I know the TDK externals work fine. Is there anything else out there?

Get a Pioneer DVR-106 from New Egg and mount it internally. You can't use iDVD with an external drive (unless you trust those Russian patches).

http://www.dealmac.com updates deals daily, and they have the lacie external drive listed for $219.00

The lacie drives do use pioneer, but they also use other's drive-mechanisms as well. They do provide a downloaded patch to provide burn support in OS X.

If you don't need it to be external, then you can buy a pioneer dvr-107 drive at http://www.esbuy.com for $103.00 with free shipping.

This drive is fully supported via 10.3.3 (internally), and is a great drive.
