MSN 7.0.2 sending messages by itself

im hoping some of you guys may be able to help me here.

i have a imac and im using MSN 7.0.2 as my instant messenger. It has been sending my friends links by itself even when im offline

I think the links are viruses/spam etc. Anyone know of the problem and how to get rid of it?
