i've been looking EVERYWHERE for some average cpu temps on other people's dual g4's. if anyone has some time and can tell me i'd really really appreciate it. the program i use to monitor is called "temperature monitor" i downloaded it on version tracker. (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19994). also, if you respond to this, let me know if you are still using the stock 120mm fan or not.

my current temperature is 140.9 (it stays between 139 and 142 generally), i'm using an antec 120mm fan in replace of apple's stock fan (i wanted to replace the diesel engine with a more gasoline sounding one instead)

thanks!

130.85 F

And my comp has been on for more than 1 hour.

I use the Stock Apple Fan

Dual 1 Ghz G4 MDD, 1.5 GB Ram.

However, i have a small mini fan blowing in front of the heat sink [near the HD] (when closed). so that might have helped w/ the heat diff. from urs.

I've got a dual 1.25 G4 FW800 with 768 MB RAM and two hard drives. I don't turn my computer off and the temperature is 130F. I'm also using Temperature Monitor. The fans in my machine are stock.

It is about 72 F in my basement where the computer is.

Oh its just a normal sized fan, and you know how there are 2 HD slots? I was able to fit one in there so it would blow on the heatsink. I already have a PCI Mounted fan in one of the slots, but I dont think that helps w/ the temperature Cause it was mainly used for blowing on the hot video card.

(1) Fan in HD Slot/In front of heat sink: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3474860211&category=51064
(3?) (I might get one more of this to install in the little slot below the optical drive)

(2) PCI fan: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3474862577&category=42003

BTW, I didn't get my fan changed w/ the supply program. Its still the wind tunnel fan. Maybe you have the new quieter fan. I think the louder one is better though. But it always gets on my nerves

My MDD dual 1GHz machine with Verax fan replacement kit(s), a pci slot fan, plus a panaflo 120mm fan replacing the 80mm fan in the verax kit, runs @ 59.x Celsius. (And a lot quieter than the stock fans or the replacement kit from Apple.)

I found some very good information on this website, and I must say this has to be one of the most professional looking modifications I've seen in MDD cooling/silencing.
