I'm just starting to get into editing music on my computer and was wondering what's some good, not too expensive, sound editing software for the OS X. I mainly want to be able to mix some of my favorite trance tracks into one long megamix. But I'm sure I'll want to do more then just that the more I get into it. Any suggestions? Thanks

I dont know about any that are too cheep. Peak 3.0 is for OS X and it is fantasic, but it seems to me that your not looking for a pro app. I think that you can use QuickTime pro to do it actly. Thats about $30. There is an app called Amadeus II that is ok for the price. Its shareware.

I have also used Authentic Sound Studio for OS 9 (a long time ago) its out for OS X now... but I havent tried it yet. Also shareware.

and download a free copy of Pro Tools (40 megs). It's rock solid and gives you 8 tracks to play with (plus MIDI, plug ins, etc.). For $9.99 they'll send you a CD with it on.

I know that the ProTools beta is out, and has been for quite some time. The Mac Genius at my local store told me that he has been using it since the last NAB show. He showed me the disk, but said that he is not allowed to give it away AT ALL. I was wondering if anyone has a copy of it? I've tried searching, but no luck at all...
