split huge mpeg2 files

i have a 30GB mpeg2 file (8 hours long) that i cannot open with QT pro or FCE. I want to split it into multiple files. (I have the MPEG2 component to qtpro). I have tried mpeg streamclip.
Split and concat wont split it.
Any advice on how to split it into mulitple files (1 hour long or less is fine)

Maybe try using VLC? version 9.8 has the export/streaming wizard that will let you pick a start and stop point.

Are you certain the file isn't corrupt?
