Having just needed to find out where all the space on my ipod had disappeared to i googled to find out how to view hidden files. That brought me to this guide http://guides.macrumors.com/Viewing_hidden_files_on_a_Mac. So i did that and it worked. However i also found a far easier way:

Simply drag any file or folder from the ipod drive inside finder into firefox (maybe safari too, haven't tried). The you can see all the files and folders with a check box option to view those normally hidden as well. I include a screenie:

Thought it might be good if someone added this to the guide?

thassall, oh and hi all, my first post here!

In general hidden files are hidden for a reason. Unless you know what they do, you shouldn't mess with it. Why should it be added to the guide? Are you sure that your disappearing disc space is taken up by the hidden files?
