connecting iMac to mac mini via firewire??

Once ive commected the macmini to the iImac.. how do I get to access files and move them across.. lets say transferring files from the mini to the iMac

also how quick it is compared to normal ethernet?

Connect both Macs via Firewire, start the Mini, press and hold the "T" key immediately after the start up chime sounds to start the Mini in Target Disk Mode.

After that the Mini will mount as an external drive on the running iMac and you can copy like you would from a drive.

If you have Firewire 400, you will have a speed of approximately 35 MB/s, with FW 800 you have 55-65 MB/s, with Ethernet (10/100) LAN you will have 11-12 MB/s, with Gigabit Ethernet you will have around 40 MB/s.
