Please note
This is a replacement for the previous discussion thread. We're studying the problem we had with that thread, but in the meantime you can continue to discuss the Mac OS X 10.5.7 Update here.
Discussion of the the technical problem should be in this forum feedback thread, not this thread. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Hmm...
Four hours to download? I think I'll try tomorrow. Never takes that long with Windows Update but then I suppose they have more practice.

Apple really should have split this up into 10.5.7 and 10.5.8 given the number of fixes, the length of time and all the trouble people are having downloading and installing.
This has been happening a lot. Just restart the download. |

Does this mean we can now jailbreak (or at least use DFU mode)?

Can't get it, it errors out every time, farthest I have made it is 50MB of 449MB. Thanks apple for having all that money in the bank but not enough servers and bandwidth to distribute your updates. It's the iPhone OS update debacle all over again.
![]() Here at apple we think different, and never learn from our past mistakes.

Just chiming in with an AOK here. Early MacBook Pro, comboupdater. Double restarted, as usual (I'm guessing it loads something up and installs during restart). Installed Safari Public Beta update with no issue (from Software update).
Things to note: -Drop down menu for power management restored. -Mac MSN messenger bug still present (where it loses focus in the chat window). -X11 2.3.3 installs fine -Repair permissions no longer brings up a string of iPhoto issues (although Front Row remains). -I restored my AppleUSBMultitouch.kext back to the default 10.5.6 prior to installing 10.5.7. IT looks like it has an incremental update (has the number changed). I wonder of the four finger gesture hack still works? 10.5.7 Build 9J61 |

Go to the Apple site and you can download in about 6 minutes. Then of course you have the double reboot, and all that.

I'll count myself lucky in having a flawless install. Downloaded in about 15 minutes, cleanly rebooted, everything came up. Spotlight had to rebuild its index after everything came up and that took a while. Safari 4 Beta update, again clean reboot.
First Time Machine backup just finished and that took a while. Everything just worked out for me this time. |

Too bad about the errors people are having. We have a speedy vlan here and I upgraded two PPCs in just a few mins total. :/
Nothing's different, although I guess Safari 4 beta 2 requires 10.5.7 and beta 2 does seem "snappier", though that could be mental.
