I knew there was a reason I left CA

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- A judge gave a Tennessee zoo six months to convince him that an African elephant named Ruby is adapting well to her new home after being separated from a pachyderm friend in Los Angeles last year.

I moved to New York from California 8 years ago and I'm still not adapting well :(

I'm surprised that I judge would take this case. Nice that he actually care about the welfare of the animal. Hopefully they can determine this satisfactorily. Since the animal is not wanting to breed, something must be bothering Ruby.

elephants live long lives; they're remarkably intelligent and emotional, and they choose mates (as well as trainers) that they want for the rest of their lives. If we're going to keep the animals in captivity, it's the least we can do to keep the animal from dying of depression.
