This is crazy when you think about it
So I received 3 macbook airs, all of which had lines, 2 of which would not sit flat on my desk.
Apple told me they are made that way and gave me a refund. It is rude, unhelpful and a total waste of time. Disgusting. I hope they release a new model soon which is built properly! |

Pretty pathetic for a truly premium, style over substance machine.

Shucks, sorry to hear that. Tbh I'm a bit worried over experiencing those kind of troubles when I get the rev C, nothing kills the joy of having a new machine as much as having to bring it back to the store countless times before getting one that works as it should.
And Apple told you they're made to not sit flatly on your desk? They're made to have lines? What was that genius on?

So you're saying they wobble on the desk? Were they bent? Were the four rubber pieces all on the bottom? I have never seen an MBA that wobbles on a desk, and I have seen quite a few MBAs.
I don't know that a rev C MBA will solve anything, except they should fix the darn display line issue. Although, I wouldn't put anything past Apple right now. The QC has been pathetic lately. The masses just don't inspect or care that much, so Apple treats us that expect a properly manufactured MBA like we are picky or outcasts.

I went through 3 Macbook Pros (Unibody) that wobbled. Over $2k for a gorgeous, wobbling hunk of aluminum? I think not, especially not when Dell can manage to keep my sub-$200 Mini9 from wobbling.
Eventually, I received a non-wobbler, though. |

Sorry to hear that. All of my Macs, bought in the past years, never had any factory or in-warranty issues: PB2400c (11yr), iMac CD (ex), MBb CD (ex), MBb C2D (ex), MP (3yr), and MBA (1/2yr).
Guess, I am lucky. Also, all bought 2nd hands outlived my ownership. |

Bent
Hey,
The feet were just not level, I have heard other complaints of this. I have had problems with a lot of Macs in my time, iMac with faulty graphics card. iMac with bad superdrives, iMac hard drive failure, MacBook faulty keyboard. When you get a good Mac it is amazing but there are too many quality control issues and the Air just takes the biscuit!! Lines in the display?!?! On every machine I have seen!

The point is, at these prices we deserve absolutely FLAWLESS Macs. It would be fine to pay $899 for a rev B MBA with SSD if it had a slightly uneven bottom mount. It would be ok if a $399 netbook type MBA had lines on the displaay... But these are high end displays, and we all deserve better. For me the worst part is when one complains about QC and an Apple "Genius" acts like they are crazy to complain about the gray lines! It is just absurd! That is the point. At these prices, Apple should give us what we have been promised. And we have been promised the WORLD at these prices. Truly! We should expect perfection and keep returning until correct. Sad but true, Sorry to all that are going through this. Hope the rev C fixes all the QC problems.

FWIW, I've had two SSD Rev. Bs from the Regent Street Store that had perfect screens (absolutely no lines) and lay flat on the desk. One of them had a bad fan bearing, but they swapped it right out and let me test the 2nd one before taking it home. It's perfect. 9C90 display.
