23in Cinema Display as main screen w/ MBP lid closed

Hey guys/gals...

OK. So I just got a 23in Cinema Display. It's gorgeous. Not sure how I've lived this long without it. But all my other buds have told me I can do what I did with Windows...and that's make my big screen primary, and close the lid on the laptop. Not working. Every time I close the lid, the whole system (incl the monitor) goes to sleep.

I've placed the menu bar over to the main screen, and now the MBP is secondary (took forever...shows my newness to the MAC World). But even with my wireless keyboard and mouse, the monitor keeps shutting off.

Help.

when you close the lid it will go to sleep, then you have to shake your mouse/hit some keyboard keys to awake the computer again

Stop it. I refuse to believe it's that simple. *trying it now*

...ugh.

The embarrassment. LOL
