Next Generation iPhone Case to Have Matte Finish? Enhanced 3G?

Previously leaked matte iPhone case
Alongside the artist rendition of the upcoming 5G iPod Nano, iLounge also weighed in on the rumors surrounding the next generation iPhone.

They've been told that the next-generation iPhone will come in two different capacities across 3 distinct models depending on your local mobile carrier. The models are described as "3G, enhanced 3G ("3.5G/3.75G"), and mainland China versions". The case is said to be the same general design as the current model but with a "less scratchable matte plastic body". A previously leaked case image is included above which matches this description.

iLounge reports that only one version, however, will be made available to specific countries. China will obviously only get the Chinese version, while other customers will only get either the 3G or 3.5G models depending on their local carrier support. We would expect that U.S. AT&T customers would be given the 3.5G model which is likely to support the new 7.2 Mbps data network being deployed by AT&T.

I guess the camera still isn't getting a flash, which actually helps in some instances. Of course for real shots, use a real camera.

I assume that "two different sizes" does not mean two different sizes, but two different capacities. However, if it does mean two different sizes, that would make me happy.

if it has this matte (hopefully a bit rugged) it would be just perfect!

3 versions? could be, but I guess 2 versions (one for China and one for the rest of the world) would do it. Just throw in the new 3.5G chip, it can't really be so much more expensive then the last generations.

A matte finish would be nicer to hold in the hand - also give you some grip on it.

The plastic back of the current 3G just slides out of your hand.

do you think that those specs would support background apps well if aple decides to integrate that into another version of the iphone OS?

edit:
i hope the matte back doesnt make the phone stick to the inside of my pockets

I quite like the look of the matte back and faster 3G would be great.

Matte would make me happy. I hope that it has the slightly rubbery feel that has been rumored. This thing in its current state is rather slippery without a case on.

This is a major do want, but I will definitely have to see how white would look with the matte.

It'll be a hell of a lot better than the current iPhone and handling background apps, that's for sure. I'm expecting a dramatic decrease in crashing Apps with this new iPhone (hopefully).

they are referring to this summers new iphone right? I mean WWDC is only a few weeks away and there still seems to be differing opinions about what phones will be introduced. You think apple would even announce different versions for different countries or they will just announce the one iphone and then ship the other versions without actually saying anything at WWDC?

So is the apple logo a mirrored metalish finish like the current one, or is it like a white plastic? The picture is kind of hard to tell. I would imagine it's like the current model though.

Never going to change - a metal back would greatly reduce the ability to get a good signal and the antenna cover is just not all that attractive.

I'm not all that excited about a matte back. Have you see what a matte case looks like? Beat up, scratched, gouged - a glossy back would look better.

The enhanced 3G, though, is a given as are larger capacities.

They may not say anything about the hardware at WWDC, period. (They may have a separate late June Apple event to announce the new iPhone. If they do announce it, I doubt they will discuss the different versions.
