iBook Question

I have a new G4 iBook and would like to connect it to my television to watch DVD movies. How do I go about doing this? I am not computer savvy, but would like to take advantage of Real.coms .99 cent movie rentals when my grandchildren visit.

You'll need one of these. Unfortunately it doesn't come with your iBook. It will allow you to connect to a TV through either an S-Video or standard VGA.

Thank you for your speedy reply. I will pick up the adapter and hopefully have a moviethon with my granddaughter this weekend. 🙂

Oh and I forgot, don't forget to get something to get the audio from your 'book to the TV too, probably a miniplug-to-RCA type cable. The iBook's speakers are nice, but you don't want to have to listen to a movie on them....

u wd still need the mini-dvi to svideo/video adaptor, which someone mentioned earlier..

There's no mini-DVI on an iBook, only on the 12" PB. The iBook has a mini-VGA out.
 
don't forget to do the "Detect Displays" in the Display Preference pane when you have it all set up.
 
That is for the older iBooks. The new ones don't have the AV port.

Yes, they do. The A/V port supports both composite and S-Video. You can by the mini-plug adapters directly from apple.
