Graphics card questions, watt usage, and other

Hey, I've looked over my User Manual in chapter 3, for installing graphics cards, it says the combined 4 slots cannot exceed 300 watts, how do I tell how much my NVidia GeForce 8800 GT 512MB uses, and how much my NVidia GeForce GTX 285 1GB will use?

Also, when installing graphics cards, what's the different slot speeds?
I see, slot 4, PCIe 1.1, 4-lane bandwidth, slot 3, the same as 4.

Slot 2 is PCIe 2.0 16-lane, and slot 1 is PCIe 2.0 16-lane (double wide)

What does this stuff mean, and where should I put my GTX (slot 1?) and my old GT (slot 2?)

Kind Regards

You can't do the 8800 GT with anything else that requires power unless you have a second PSU in one of the ODD bays.

You would need to use all but one of your PCIe slots and an entire ODD bay to use both cards.

You can't just put both in. There are not enough extra power connectors on the motherboard.

The 8800 GT pulled 130w, I believe, and the GTX 285 should do comparably to the PC versions.

What is the PC version's watt usage?

How do I get my motherboards info?

Like I said, you can use both, but having both is useless without more than two monitors. If you EVER plan on reinstalling the OS (or installing Snow Leopard clean) you will NEED to keep the 8800 GT to get your computer to even boot. GTX 285 drivers are not and WILL not be included in OS X.

"Lemme take a look-see on the ol' Gorgle..."

Looks like ~140w idle. Yow.

Yeah, I'll keep the graphics card then, can I just leave it in my Mac Pro but turned off ?

kk, useless without two monitors, or anything else on which I dedicate the second graphics card to (like hopefully Parallels will allow you to do at some point).

Yeah I know the GTX won't work without the drivers that come in 10.5.7 (the OS disc installs for 10.5.4)

How can I install Snow Leopard? how do I even get it

140w idle, is that a lot?

Any motherboard info, name, any features.. I have a Processor, I know it's details, I want to know my motherboards details!

Oh WWDC, hehe, when is the iPhone OS 3.0 update being released?

Kind Regards

If it helps, this page shows power requirements of PC video cards.
The Mac versions should be close.

Geeezzzz... that says the 7300GT draws 13W-29W so these ~150W cards are really sucking the juice.
