Hey can anyone tell me what apple is thinking this time. They recently updated the specs in the white macbook and now offers a 500GB HDD for it. This same drive is not offered for any unibody macbooks or macbook pros. This makes NO sense at all. Thoughts??

2.5" 500GB drives have been around for over a year, I'm sure Apple will offer than in MBP once they get bumped. Anyone who really really wants 500GB in their MBP already swapped it themselves.

Bingo. It is a trivial swap and you have more control over which brand you get. So, you aren't really missing anything.

Yeep, I'm just waiting for either Western Digital to come out with a 500 GB Scorpio Black or for Seagate's 500 GB 7200.4 to drop in price. (The latter of which I don't think will occur until the former does, though.)

Nevertheless, the install is going to take all of 2 minutes.
