It would be hard to argue with Pandora as a top free application. Some others I regard as being in the running, in no particular order, are Bloomberg, New York Times, USA Today, and NetNewsWire. If you are into it, Facebook, although I think the iPhone version needs work.

That'll be why I cant find it in the app store... Well, if nothing else, I prefer PandoraBox to AppSniper 😀
another vote for Netnewswire and Pandora
Pandora One service + PandoraJam (for Mac) = lots of great 192kbps (almost) free music loaded into iTunes and (somewhat) tagged. A great way to build your music collection and discover new artists

Some really good choices, my top free app would be Google Mobile App. Its not the most fun but its found its way to my first page, simply because I use it every day.
