Well my 20GB second-gen iPod broke, and I'm planning on buying a 40GB. I haven't really been keeping up with the revs, though. How do they compare with the second gens? And is it a bad time to buy? Are we looking at updates soon?

It has been a while since we have had updates. I think it is a fine iPod though, I have been craving that model for a while. I don't think the battery lasts quite as long as they did on your model, and I think it is a little smaller. But other than the obviously different faceplate, I think that is it. I would go ahead and buy one if mine were broke. Otherwise, I think that I might hold off a while.

Given that we have a 15gb iPod, i would think that we are not far from seeing 30gb and 60gb iPods to replace the 20gb and 40gb IPods.
