Hi, i have a pm g5 and it has red, blue, green and black dots that show up.
It will also only boot into safe mode.
is this a graphics card issue or logic board. When you boot into safe mode it uses limited drivers so it might be the graphics card but it still displays image and the dots ony really show up on a blk background and i dont have another card to use it with

Any ideas???

ps its a dual 2.0

Are the dots individual pixels/subpixels? Your monitor might be toast - test your monitor on a different computer... pictures for reference might be nice. However, if it only boots into safe mode, then it might be the graphics card.

If you are feeling really ambitious and have a spare drive hanging around, you may want to install OSX on it and see if the problem persists. It could also be your monitor and the G5 not talking to each other properly - it has happened before (1st batch of LP2475s and the MacPro).

Still, eliminate the screen-as-a-problem first by plugging in a laptop (any one will do) into it. Odds are somebody in your circle of friends has a spare cable and/or adapter lying around.
