If you're on the fence, just do it. While it's my first Mac, I'm completely happy with this thing. Was a little concerned by posts on here, asked the guy at the store point blank, and so far it's running trouble free.

Thanks for the recommendations of going 15" over the 13", couldn't be happier!
wow, i'm using my 2010 vaio as well, i'm torn between 13'' or 15''.....
man....it's hard

got my rMBP 13" the other day.

Cannot believe how lovely the screen is. Is my first mac, I am very glad. Looking forward to Ubuntu becoming more stable though.

I have a U3011, cannot seem to get HDMI or thunderbolt to work over 1920 .

Just ordered my 15" rMBP, base model refurb.

Will be my first refurb and my second Macbook, as i currently have a MBA 2011 13.3". A little worried about buying a refurb especially after spending that much money. But nevermind! I love my mac and i use it everyday, so why not get one of the, if not the best laptop out there!

Got my MBP 15 mid 2012 for almost two weeks now and had so much fun with it.
Got Windows 7 Pro installed as well.
Now, I am looking for a good deal on Parallels 8 (bundle).

Best case greatly depends upon the user - one popular case is the speck case.

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...se+macbook+pro

I personally prefer a sleeve over a case.

You can also explore wrapsol.. And then sleeves.,

Speck cases are pretty popular also but I do not want to hide the beauty of my Mac

I am a Windows user for about 15 years. Only took me to learn OS x in just an hour together with the gestures! Cool stuff!

Got the same deal and am returning the MBA w/the same specs that I bought last week. Express delivery should have it in my hands no later than Monday--can't wait!

----------

I am curious why they're charging $80 MORE for the 128GB vs. the 256GB on the refurbished rMBP 13" (both w/8GB RAM & i5). Am I missing something?

Just the processor 100 MHz speed bump. It's now discontinued, but it's still an amazing deal!

13 or 15 rMBP....could not decide so have ordered both!

I need a new mac and can't decide which is best for my needs, yesterdays price drop has made me bite the bullet....on 2 machines!

13 rMBP 256 GB SSD £1149 - 1 year warranty
15 rMBP base £1529 (through education) - 3 years warranty

The plan is to use them over 7-10 days and see which suits my needs then send the other back. I'm a building engineer - project programming, cad drawings, some 3D sketchup modelling etc, Autocad specifications used to be a major factor in deciding on a computer but with the power of modern computing we are past that stage of being limited to firstly windows and secondly chunky laptops.

In my spare time I do alot of graphics and photography work - hence the want for retina. Don't do any transcoding of video or any editing of video.

I'd also like to get back into self employed weekend work of surveying and generating the odd 3D render.

I get the feeling that the 13" will be suitable for day to day tasks but if/when I want to do bleeding edge stuff I'd be happier with the 15" due to the discrete graphics, is it worth the extra £380?

Cool hope you like it.

Depends on what you do with your rMBP.
If what all you do is watch videos and surf the net, the 13in is enough.
If you do hardcore editing, go with the 15in.

Your idea to buy both and return the other one you don't like works. I did the same thing when I bought a desktop speaker. Tried both in about a week and returned the other one that I don't like.

But I think you will opt to the 15 incher.

I've just ordered a 13" retina to replace my i7 2011 MBP. Got it refurbished though cos it was £200 less! If it turns up immaculate it'll be an absolute bargain!

Just ordered a 13" rMBP with the upgraded 3.0 i7 processor. 256GB is more than enough storage for me. I bought a Samsung external Blu Ray writer that I'll use as a optical drive when I need one, or to watch BD movies/anime on the go.

Considering all I really do is web browsing, youtube, netflix, crunchyroll, social media, MS Office, and the occasional web game I think it should be sufficient. In the rare event I may play some WoW, but gaming is mainly done on my PC or PS3/WiiU so graphic performance is somewhat not important to me.

I might buy a copy of aperture and give it a go, I use Lightroom on my PC now.

I'm upgrading from a late 2006 MBP maxed out at 2GB of ram, I have a feeling this will be a totally new/fun experience

MacBook Pro screen

Hi Guys. First post & question.

I've been reading this thread just to learn anything I can before I commit to buying my first Macbook Pro. I've been using Mac's since 1996 and right now I'm on a 2003 1.25Ghz dual-processor G4 Power Mac.

I thought I read about some MBP buyers getting a Samsung screen and some a different brand screen. Is it better to get one with a Samsung screen?

What was the other (less favorable) one?

Why is the Samsung preferred?

How to I check (or can I) to see which one it has before I buy it?

I'm almost decided on a 15" MBP (non-retina) machine.

Thanks!
