A new version of the Gromacs Core is available through the Folding client, which will automatically download the new FahCore_78.exe file. It seems that the flood of p638 units has finally stopped. 🙂 This new Gromacs version seems to provide faster processing on the G4.

Could you go into a little more detail in "layman's" terms. I just finished 2 Tinkers on my G3 (G4-500 upgrade chip) and am glad to see a return to Gromacs. What is this new core you speak of and does it work with "InCrease" which is what I use to do my folding. 😕

I have a Power Mac G4, so I would be interested in more information also. A link and specific instructions would be very helpful. 😉

No need to worry. This new core will be downloaded automatically the next time your machine returns a unit and fetches a new one (assuming the new unit is a Gromac unit). Yes it will work with InCrease. InCrease is just a GUI app for running the CLI Terminal client. The F@h app itself is what downloads the new core automatically. Enjoy!

Check either in the current terminal window (if it is open) or check the FAHlog.txt file. It should indicate something like the following:

[22:13:33] Folding@home Gromacs Core
[22:13:33] Version 1.64 (April 29, 2004)
[22:13:33]
[22:13:33] Preparing to commence simulation

That's all there is to it! Fold on!

Mustang I found this:

Found this in TextEdit, Thank you

😕

What version of the F@h client are you running? You are running Version 1.56 of the CORE as you can see. I would expect the new version to be downloaded when you return the current Gromac and receive a new one. If that DOES NOT happen you can stop the client. Trash the FahCore_78.exe and restart the client. It should then be FORCED to download the newest Version 1.64 of the core. Keep up the fold!

I wanted to make sure that I'm OK Mustang Mac! 😉

Thank you, I was getting concerned when it took so long to get the new version! 😉

The Gromacs Core has been updated to v.1.65. I'm running a new unit with it - p251_gnra_dd_erf.
