hmm? You mean the aurora wallpaper? Its included, but just like the old Leopard aurora it gets quite boring after a while I think - so I just change it to something else.

If you want it, I'm attaching it to this post.

I have installed 10A380 on one of my eternal USB drives. It is so amazingly fast! Many apps only bounce once in the dock when you open them and they are running.

I installed it externally because I'm not sure if the developer build is all that stable yet. No problems yet though. Do you all think its ok to install over Leopard without having any problems? And will most Mac apps that run in Leopard work just as well in Snow Leopard? In one of the earlier Snow Leopard builds that I had, I downloaded Paintbrush and it constantly crashed after just a few minutes of it being open. I just don't want to have that problem with all my other apps.

Thanks for the screenshots InkMaster... I haven't had a chance to install it yet, but I think I'll brew a pot and put in the time tonight. One thing, does this have the expose built into the dock? I didn't see any shots of that and fear that it didn't make this copy...

Cheers

Thats actually one of the things I've been trying to figure out. As far as I can tell now, no. It seems like the version of expose isn't the one that they showed off at WWDC. It neither aligns windows in a grid, nor can I find any way to activate it via dock. When I press and hold as was demonstrated, all I get is the standard right-click menu.

Does it use the new technologies such as Grand Central Dispatch? Not really sure how you would tell though?

Does it have the new Quicktime UI?

QuickTime X is built into Snow Leopard, although this actual build lacks the new icon.

It also continues to have awful codec support. It still can't play .mkv, .avi or several other popular formats without the help of Perian. Considering what an overall QuickTime got, you'd think Apple would have tried to make it somewhat more useful.

No. This build seems to be older than the one Apple demonstrated at WWDC, and lacks the Expose improvements, including being able to trigger it from the Dock.

Overall, though, this build of Snow Leopard is very stable and I'd roughly estimate that it's at least at an RC level by now.

It does, and that's an advantage Windows 7 will have over Snow Leopard.

Although it's hardly a chore to install Perian, and it works fine with QuickTime X, from what I can tell.

Also keep in mind that perhaps then gold release will improve the codec support. It's possible that some support was removed, as this is the WWDC build.

Can't wait to install it, looking forward to the speed improvements.

Loving Safari 4 on 10.5.7 though, don't normally notice any extra snappiness, but I am with this. Is there any noticeable difference in 10A380?

Does is support advanced profiles for H264 now?

Does it deal with the well-known and longstanding gamma shift issues?

Those two would be on my wish list.

New Snow Leopard 10A380 Screenshots Emerge

Attendees of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference this week received copies of a "near final" version of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard following Monday's keynote. As we had heard just prior to the start of the conference, Apple is distributing Build 10A380 to the conference attendees. While a number of sets of screenshots and even videos have surfaced from Snow Leopard developer builds over the past few months, each release has brought some new tweaks, and Build 10A380 is no exception.

Michael Flux has posted an extensive gallery of screenshots from the new Snow Leopard build, highlighting several changes to the operating system.

- Stacks Navigation: Navigation within Stacks from the Dock using Grid view has been changed from previous developer builds. Whereas previous builds allowed users to navigate folder hierarchies using small icon versions of parent folders, Build 10A380 now utilizes text buttons in the upper left corner for navigation to parent folders. Gizmodo also offers further explanation of changes to the Dock and Exposé in Snow Leopard, highlighting the new ability to scroll within a Stacks window in Grid view.

- Safari Contextual Menu Options: Apple has added two new contextual menu options within Safari. When selecting and right clicking on any text within Web pages, Safari now offers the ability to easily create new Mail Notes from the selected text or convert the selected text to speech and have the file added to iTunes.

- AirPort Menu Signal Strength Indicators: The AirPort Menu Item now shows signal strengths for all networks within range without having to join the networks, aiding in network selection in locations with many possible choices.

I did too, I hope snow leopard comes with a new advertised wallpaper instead of the purple one now.
