I have an ibook g4 and it can not play HD movies. I recently purchased an adapter to have my mac play on my 42" hd tv but it is kind of pointless when my mac can't even play hd movies
Right now i am running mac os x VERSION 10.4.11
Processor- 1.2 GHz PowerPC G4
Memory 768 MB DDR SDRAM

Obviously that is not enough to run hd movies perfectly.
Is there any type of software i can download or do i have to get more RAM or what?

Please help me as to what i should do, and post links to where i can do so.

thanks!!

You could buy a 1GB RAM stick to expand the RAM to 1.25GB, but that's all you can do.

Maybe an external FW400 drive could help, but it all bogs down to the CPU, and quite frankly, the 1.2GHz G4 is not up to that task. Even spreading the display to another 42" TV screen is taxing the GPU with its 32MB RAM.

Maybe get an Apple TV or a cheap PC laptop/desktop to play HD movies.

The decoding of the codec used for HD content is what is hungry for more CPU.

I tried getting an iBook G4 1GHz and 1,25GB RAM to play 720p content, and it just didn't work out...
