i'm looking under my system info. at the SATA speed information and it's reporting 1.5 Gigabit. Shouldn't it be 3.0 Gigabit? I also have a 13" mbp with 60gb vertex

i benchmarked my vertex as well and the speeds are a lot slower than before. did apple cut back on the sata connection to make the 13" mbp cheaper? i'd be so pissed if this is the case

That's exactly what I'm thinking.. They cut the CPU cache without saying, and now the sata bus? holy crap....

i hope other people tune in and report their results. this would be a huge flaw in the 13" mbp as the previous umbs had 3.0 Gigabit sata connections

i got my new falcon 128G ssd installed yesterday. it freeze the installation during macos install. so i have to install windows xp sp3 instead.
the performance is half as claimed. only got 120mb/s seq read

if this is flaw is true. I 'll ask my pervious umb back. as i don't have any problem with it.

How is it possible to see the SATA connection (3gb/s?) in Mac OSX? I have an SSD and was wondering...

I hate when this happen. It's totally random to me. At least i tried 5 times with different install: fresh install and time machine restore. they all failed.
I thought it might be a broken SSD and trying to RMA it.

Could you try run a bootcamp and see if you got the similar 1.5g speed.
if apple did lower the transfer what we do ?

Unbelievable if true (doesn't even seem possible they would make a colossal FU like this)

No way i'm going to move to this platform if this the case as this is pathetic for SSD users. And as you guys know, SSD's ain't going away anytime soon (forever)

Better find out for sure and which models (exactly) so you can return it ,if you so choose.

Damn it's always something right?

But still, there probably(hopefully) is a firmware cure for this. Problem is you've got only like 14 days and I wouldn't risk it if they don't get all over this.

honestly it doesn't make any sense if they intent to lower the performance. as Sata2 is the stardard now. I guess is just a firmware update.
the engineer should be fired.

This would be disastrous. How could they call it a Pro if it's only 1.5 when the "old" UMBs are 3.0?

:apple: best fix this fast if it's true (before I buy one!).

...snip...

Something is wrong. Those read speeds are not even close advertised. I mean at least you should loose a ~20% of advertised speed in real world, but thats more like a ~50% drop in performance.

It would make complete since if apple screwed up the SATA 2 and dropped into 1.5 GPS. LOL only apple would "upgrade" and go back 5 years.

What's the firmware version of your vertex, mine keeps freezing on OSX install... tried to downgrade to 1.1 but still having the issue
