why is it that my 600MHz ibooks 16meg rage mobility has quarts extream but my cube's old 16MB rage dose not?
 
Because your ATi Rage inside your iBook is in fact a ATi Radeon I believe, and I think those chips have the features needed for QE

The Cube has a ATi Rage Pro with 16vram, older card

If you check your OS X box it will say supported chips, Radeon, Geforce etc

Anyway don't ask what features, haven't a clue 😛
