Hi all,

I was interested in exploring exactly how the gamut of the new 13" MBP differs from the original unibody 13" MacBook. I used a colorimeter to create color profiles for both displays. Turns out the difference is quite noticeable. See the full story here:

I hope this helps to all people who, like me, are considering an upgrade.

Cheers,

I am very happy with the quality of the new screen, and it was one of the major reasons for me to buy the laptop. It has a gamut very close to that of my Dell 2209WA IPS screen. The IPS screen has a true 8-bit panel and vastly superior viewing angles, but I can't take it with me either. But for on-the-road stuff, this screen is very adequate.

15" MBP Profile?

Thank you Georgi for posting this link.

Since I think the base 13" and the base 15" are both excellent values, I wish someone could provide us with a 15" profile so buyers could make a truly informed decision when selecting a laptop based upon the quality of the display.

That's cool! I don't really get how all that works but it looks like lots of improvement over the previous model. Yay for progress!:)

the fastest 15" MBP with the express card is the 2.93GHz i currently have with 8GB RAM.

i know about the extended color gamut, i don't want to give away my express card. is it possible to swap display to the new one ?

I would be very interested in a comparison between the late-2008 15" MacBook Pro and the mid-2009 15" MacBook Pro.
