The Eclipse project recently announced that version 3.5 (Galileo) of their IDE has reached RC3 status, and will be released officially in about a couple of weeks. (Link)
The NetBeans team has also announced that NetBeans 6.7, a major update to their IDE, is at RC2, and is currently scheduled for a possible release on June 22, just days before Eclipse 3.5 releases. (Link)
If the NetBeans final release gets delayed a couple of days, which is entirely plausible given that there are still some bugs needing fixing, Eclipse and NetBeans could release major updates on the same day.
