Hi all,

I have the opportunity to buy a G4 350Mhz, 768 MB, 40GB, for $350. Its a PowerMac tower. The built-in audio is broken. Do you think that's a good deal? I intend to run the computer headless and configure it solely to be a fileserver/webserver/itunes server, so the broken audio doesn't seem so worrysome.

Or should I go even cheaper and just buy a G3 (I think I can get one for 260ish).

Thanks for the advice!

For the uses you mention (headlesss fileserver/webserver/itunes server) you'd be much better off buying an x86 system and running Linux on it. You'll certainly get more for your money.

It's got good guts - but it will be slow with OSX. I wouldn't recommend doing any serious computing on it.
