It's Fast!

3Gs loads pages really quick over wifi compared. Just done a comparing loading engadget and ebay. engadget loaded in about 8 seconds on the 3Gs and 18 on the 3G. Wifi loading on safari is something i was really interested in seeing compared. It's not let me down

BBC SPORT / football

3Gs - 4 seconds!
3G - 13 seconds

Apple.com

3Gs -4 seconds
3G - 8 seconds

mac rumors:

3Gs- 9
3G - 13

ipod

3Gs 0.5 seconds
3G 4 seconds.

sms

3gs - < 1 second
3g - just over 2 seconds.

camera -

3Gs - 3 seconds
3G - 4 seconds

settings app

3Gs < 2 seconds
3G 5 seconds

something i have noticed however, is my mobile me email is pushed to the 3Gs a moment after the 3G. maybe because i set that up second.

This is actually a decent thread (unlike the GUYZ-IM-STANDING-NOW-OUTSIDE-OF-A-STORE-HERE-IS-ALSO-MY-DOG threads).

How much does the settings app take to load...it lags a bit on my 2G

i immagine it might be like HD telly. side my side HD looks awesome.

but after 20 mins watching HD you dont really notice it.

i have a feeling when i go on my friends 3G in a week or something it will feel slow. not like now the 3Gs feels fast.if that makes sense?

its very snappy though. kinda get the feeling you wont get crashes in apps etc.

settings app

3Gs < 2 seconds
3G 5 seconds

im happy with maps aswel. although il have to do some real world testing. that lags like hell on the 3G when putting in directions. annoying when your trying to drive at the same time.

any others?

Im pretty comfortable with the UI on the iphone so those 1 or 2 seconds pauses are becoming painful lol ... I'd like to upgrade for that reason alone ...

how is the scrolling while pages are loading? sometimes my 3g cant get pretty laggy! how is the scrolling in general?

Matt - how long can you do video for? Was a question I saw asked elsewhere, but no-one knew. ALso - could you edit your 1st post to put all the info together? Helps make it easier to read - then others can add stats in the thread and update maybe?

That was no dog. That was his wife! Oh, okay he did say girlfriend. I love German Shepherds too.

Far more loyal these days than a wife. (This is the West you know.)

Are you confirming that the 3Gs is fast or that the 3G is just slow?

I am waiting for June 2010 here!!!

From a review :

"File size of each individual video is capped at 2 gigabytes, which translates to about an hour’s worth of video per clip. But you can happily fill the iPhone to capacity with multiple clips."

Got my 32 GB white, already. But still at work

for everyone that has downplayed the speed upgrade by saying that after a while you won't notice it........

correct, i've already stopped thinking how fast it is.

i have also thought a few times in the messages app that there was something different.....oh yes, no lag. and tapping on a new email....oh yes, no lag etc.

so you're right, i have stopped noticing the speed. that's not to say i'd stop noticing the speed decrease if i had to go back to my 3g.

Yes it's defo a lot quicker in safari

I'm using 3g at the moment in the garden and the browsing is pretty impressive

I was amazed at wifi earlier on in safari - don't know if these have n wifi cards in them

other goodies are the maps - orientating the way you Are driving
the video and ability to send video mms as well (if mms was set up by 02)

address book very slick scrolling

General first thoughts - glad I done it
