Is there a way to set your iChat status to idle?

I want my status to appear idle so that it seems ive been away from my computer. Is there an app or something where it will show me as idle on ichat?
 
On a related note, how do you set iChat to set your status to away if you put your computer to sleep? I know it's possible because my friend did it, but then didn't remember how to enable it again when he got a new machine when his old one died.
